Shu Okada was born in Tokyo, Japan. She studied illustration at Parsons The New School for Design in NY and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. Shu has had the great experiences of attending high school in Switzerland and traveling to many different countries in Europe and Asia. As she visited these countries, she interacted with the many cultures there and took interest in things such as traditional clothing and architecture. She loves how they can talk about history or tell a story without words and influence people in different ways. She often uses watercolor because the colors blend and ooze together in unexpected ways, as if light is seeping through. Her goal is to create paintings that imply her own feelings, and to make people feel something warm through them like they are reading an old children’s book.
